Becici

Becici are one of the most popular resorts in Montenegro located in a picturesque bay with the cleanest waters, surrounded by a coniferous forest and beautiful mountains. A seaside promenade connects it with Budva, the old town, while its restaurants and nightclubs are only 2 km away.

Becici, a place built right next to a nearly 2,000 metre long beach, which won the title of the most beautiful beach on the Mediterranean in 1935, in Paris. A hotel complex with over 3,000 beds, between Zavala Cape and the Church of St Thomas is located alongside the beach and with the immediate hinterland full of luxury buildings with rooms and suites for tourists.

Another equally impressive tourist block with hotels rooms and suites is formed around the old village of Becici located above the main road. There is always plenty of space available on the long sandy beach, known for its sand of many different colours and granulation, the calm clear sea, the rich selection of services available on the beach, all of which makes Becici attractive for tourists from the surrounding places on the Riviera, as well as for weekend visitors.

Rafailovici was formerly a small fishing village on the southern end of the Becici beach next to the Djevistinje cape, but nowadays with its rooms and suites, restaurants and hotels located along the promenade and beach, isolated from the crowds it stands alone as a separate tourist centre of Becici. It is connected to Budva and Kamenovo by a pedestrian walkway along the sea and, with all the tourist services it offers, it still remains attractive for those looking for a peaceful vacation.

The Church of St Thomas is located alongside the Becici beach, on a hill surrounded by pine and cypress trees. According to some records, it dates back to the 14th century and was dedicated to the Apostle, St Thomas. The church became completely dilapidated and a new church dedicated to Stefan Stiljanovic, the last Duke of Pastrovici, a Serbian despot, and Saint, born in the immediate vicinity of this church, was built in its place in 1910. Every year, the faithful gather together here on 17 October, on the day of St Stefan Stiljanovic, and on 19 October, the day of St Thomas. The church treasures parts of the remains of St Stefan Stiljanovic relocated from Belgrade in 2007. The church is especially attractive to tourists because it can be accessed directly from the promenade.
